Groups we work with

We have formal relationships with several groups and are developing working relationships with more groups along the way.

LA21 Partners

  • Woking Community Furniture Project Accepts old furniture and electrical goods (even if not working), repairs them and sells again.  Sited in Maybury, the project is open four days a week, collects items by appointment and sells them at very reasonable prices to any member of the public.
  • Woking Cycle Users Group Promote opportunities for cycling locally, and campaign for improved facilities for cyclists in the Borough.
  • Woking Fairtrade Action Network. Woking achieved fair trade town status in Oct 2005 and continues to promote wider use of fair trade products.
  • Surrey Wildlife Trust are Woking LA21′s main partner in the Gardening For Life Initiative, and undertake a range of work to benefit wildlife in the County.
  • Natural England has set up the Forum for Gardening with Wildlife in Mind of which LA21 is a member and has signed its ‘Let Our Gardens Live’ manifesto.
  • RecycleWoking  (formerly known as Freecycle)now have nearly 3000 members after their first full year of operation. They do a stirling job of keeping waste out of landfill for a longer period of time, and saving landfill costs to boot.

We also work with:

  • Woking Association of Voluntary Service
  • Energy Centre for Sustainable Communities, who run frequent events to promote energy efficiency and domestic renewable energy installations in Woking.
  • Woking Chamber of Trade and Commerce Chartered Institute of Building.
  • Woking News and Mail, where we regularly advise on the broader aspects of ‘green issues’.
  • Three Valleys Water
  • The Lightbox
  • Surrey Community Action
  • Woking People of Faith Forum
  • Surrey Women’s Institutes
  • Rotary Club of Woking/District
  • Goldsworth Park Community Association

We welcome contact with any individual, community or local group who has an interest in progressing the development of Woking as a low impact community. Please contact us if you would like to work with us..
